Moshe Idel

Moshe Idel was born in Rumania in 1947 and in 1963 he emigrated in Israel with his family.

He is Professor of Jewish Thought at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He holds a Ph.D. in Kabbalah and has served as visiting professor and researcher at many universities and institutions worldwide, including Yale, Harvard , Princeton, UCLA Universities in the USA and Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris

Max Cooper Professor of Jewish Thought at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Moshe Idel is the author of over fifteen books. He is the winner of several awards and prizes, including the EMET Prize, given by the Prime Minister of Israel; the Israel Prize for Jewish Thought; The Gershom Scholem Prize for research in Kabbalah, given by the Israeli Academy for Sciences and Humanities;the Present Tense/Joel H. Cavior Literary Award for Religious Thought; and the Jewish National Book Award.
